Our Roots & Industrial Evolution
Founded in 2004 to coincide with Hungary’s accession to the European Union, the National Fashion League Hungary (NFLH/NDL) was established by a visionary core of manufacturers and textile professionals. As the global landscape shifted, so did we. We successfully navigated the restructuring of the domestic garment industry, evolving from a manufacturing-heavy base into a dynamic creative hub that today unites independent designers, innovative brands, and applied artists with the international market.
The “Professional Table” of the Industry
We believe that the future of the Hungarian textile and fashion sector depends on unity. The NFLH serves as the essential professional platform—the “Table”—where all stakeholders sit together to solve the industry’s most burning challenges. By leveraging our deep professional history and extensive international network, we facilitate the strategic dialogue needed to drive positive, systemic change across the entire supply chain.
Global Export & Trade Advocacy
Since 2015, the NFLH has been a decisive engine for Hungarian fashion exports. In cooperation with ITDH, we have spearheaded national stands at prestigious trade fairs from Warsaw and Moscow to Brussels and Dubai. Showcasing everything from lingerie to high-end menswear and children’s apparel, these exhibitions proved that collective industry action is the most powerful way to offer Hungarian production capacity and craftsmanship to the world.
From a Local Eco Team to a Global Movement
Our commitment to the planet began in 2015 with our internal Eco Team, designed to unite Hungarian designers with a circular and eco-conscious mindset. The domestic response was so overwhelming that it birthed a worldwide movement: the Global Sustainable Fashion Week (#GSFW) in 2016. What started as a local initiative is now a globally recognized platform based in Budapest, connecting ethical fashion experts and innovators from every continent.

International Cooperation & The Next Generation
As a non-profit organization, we bridge the gap for our members through strategic designer exchange programs, providing international exposure that would otherwise be out of reach. Our growing reputation is reflected in frequent invitations to global fashion weeks and prestigious EU-funded project collaborations. Beyond the runway, our #GSFW EduPlatform works tirelessly to educate the next generation, empowering them to reject the environmental and health risks of fast and ultra-fast fashion in favor of conscious consumption.
The Road to 2026: A Decade of Excellence
We are currently moving toward a historic milestone: the 10th Anniversary Jubilee Year of #GSFW in 2026. This celebration will feature a national roadshow and an expanded international summit, cementing Hungary’s role as a central hub for the global sustainable fashion dialogue.
